ANTA KIDS, who’re the first Chinese sportswear brand to tap the children’s sportswear market, has been launched in China since 2008 and their 2019 NYFW show for the SS20 collection featured some of the coolest sportswear around. The company is positioned as a children’s sportswear brand in the mass market and it offers good value-for-money and highly comfortable products to children aged 0 to 14, which was made clear with the pieces being showcased.

This year, ANTA collaborated with Opening Ceremony to put on a three-part show that highlighted the newest collections for ANTA that closely integrate technology and design. The three collections presented on the runway were Energy Capsule, X Evolution, and Playmaker, whose theme revolved around designing concepts from children’s perspectives and that aimed to both present and explain children’s leading fashion as well. The set was inspired by Olympic medal podiums and featured celeb kids and child phenom break-dancers modeling the colorful and unique sportswear. The colorful, vibrant and unique sportswear designs were worn by front row guests like Candice Swanepoel, Alessandra Ambrosio, and their kids, while fellow supermodel, Coco Rocha, hit the runway with her daughter in a matching red and white sportswear set.

The runway show featured edgy streetwear pieces in bright, neon colors with orange accents on almost every piece. The collection had a hip-hop street style vibe that gave a nod to the popular 90’s trends that we’ve been seeing all summer and that are going with us into fall. Some of the outfits included Nylon belted jackets with undershirts that popped in color and matching sneakers with velcro straps. From basketball to tennis and skiing to hockey, the miniature models rocked sportswear looks like matching velour shorts and tank tops and jacket hoods buttoned onto ski goggles that would make even their adult counterparts jealous. Every look was accessorized with ANTA Kids gear like duffle bags, crossbody bags, branded socks, headbands, helmets and bucket hats.

The collections were created with conscious technology that shows the company’s dedication to producing professional children sports products to their customers. The X Evolution collection featured technology in footwear that helps stabilize pressure into the soles of its shoes, while a smart chip tightens the shoe via an A-FIIIX system which works to give consumers a self-tying shoe. Also, the Playmaker X Origins collection was designed together with Opening Ceremony to accomplish this goal as well. “In order to accomplish the futuristic aspect of this collection, we invested a lot of resources on the technology used in our products, some of which are industry breakthroughs with eye-catching features,” said the designer of ANTA Kids, Jiang Wei.
